SCENES FROM THE FRONTLINES The
Hip Hop Film Festival (HHFF) is a passionate collective of filmmakers, artists
and volunteers working to economically elevate and socially empower the urban
arts community.
Touring in the U.S. and abroad throughout the year, HHFF showcases progressive urban
cinema that addresses social and individual responsibility while countering the
apathy, cynicism and violence so pervasive in society today.
The films that we present are scenes from the frontlines of the Hip Hop movement.
They come straight from the hearts of proud filmmakers who are not afraid to take
a hard look at the world around them and tell it like it is.

AMBASSADORS OF TRUTH
As
an art form, Hip Hop has reached out beyond its urban roots to gain
a growing acceptance among diverse audiences. But all too often, images associated
with the Hip Hop culture are still hijacked by the media and portrayed in ways
that are negatively distorted or outright false.
HHFF is committed to bridging this cultural divide once and for all. By bringing
to light the depth and richness of the Hip Hop lifestyle, we seek to transcend
old stereotypes and increase understanding of Hip Hop’s true values—Freedom,
Justice, Equality, Unity, Trust, Respect, Knowledge, Love, and Peace.

POSITIVE FORCE FOR CHANGE
HHFF is an offshoot of The Center for Hip Hop Education,
a non-profit organization promoting the idea of collaborative learning as a positive
force for change. Its primary mission is to create artistically-motivated educational
models that inspire individuals and communities to act with a sense of shared
purpose.
In particular, The Center is dedicated to establishing a progressive curriculum
with relevance and appeal to youth. By encouraging students to examine contemporary
attitudes and to boldly express their own views, this program serves as a forum
for the development of socially-aware, empowered individuals.
The Center for Hip Hop Education currently offers a variety of quality educational
experiences. These include: film and new media series, performance-based workshops,
directed study programs, and instruction into the history, science, art, technology
and practical applications of Hip Hop.
